A short story of my life

My home in Mora

I am born in 1941 in PORSGRUNN, Norway, male, widover. I left Porsgrunn in 1968 and since then I have lived in BODØ (in the northern of Norway), MOLDE (in the northwest), STAVANGER (the norwegian oil city at the westcoast), then a small village named LIERBYEN in the central part of Norway, and at last to KONGSVINGER in the eastern Norway, close to the swedish border.

I am a Biological Engineer and have been working in Clinical Chemical Laboratories at hospitals in all the cities I have been living. I retired 3 years ago and moved then to my cottage in MORA, a small city in Dalarna County, Sweden. Here I have a very old timber house (partly from the end of the 1700 century) together with two other small old buildings, always open for guests which share the same interest for Scout philately

My Scouting carrier started after I moved to the city of Molde on the northwest coast of Norway in 1969 when I become a troop leader for a small Scout troop in the local Methodist church. In 1976 I moved to Stavanger , the norwegian oil city on the west coast of Norway. I continued as a troop leader for one of the Boy Scout troops in Stavanger until 1978 when the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Norway merged into one single association. In connection with that merge I become a Commissioner of Scouting in Rogaland Area Council with responsibility for a group of Scouters who planned common activities for Scouts in our local area.

Amongst many other activities we planned and offered to our Scouts we also introduced courses in collecting Scout and Guide stamps. One of the members of our activity group had for many years collected Scout stamps and was responsible for the information given to our Scouts. I had never been a philatelist before but a great interest for Scout stamps did it necessary for me to move deeper into the field of thematic philately, and soon I started my own collection.

I retired from Scouting when I moved to to Lier in 1984, but continued my interest for my thematic collection of Boy Scouts philately. My collection was exhibited at the international philatelic exhibitions CAPEX-87 (vermeil), HAFNIA-87 (vermeil), FILACEPT 88 (vermeil), FINLANDIA 88 (large vermeil) and for the last time PRAGA 88 (large silver medal). Then I had to change my priority and for some years my collection was put a side. After about 10 years in a security box I reopened my collection SPEIDERBRORSKAPET (The World Brotherhood of Scouting) in 1997. Since then have I rebuilded my whole collection, without any plans for continuing my earlier exhibiting, only for my own happiness.
